Busitema University is a multi campus model public University located in the eastern region of Uganda. The main campus is at Busitema and other campuses at Nagongera, Namasagali, Arapai, Mbale, Pallisa and Kaliro. Established by Statutory Instrument in 2007, the University focuses on relevant and critical study programs in Engineering, Science Education, Health Sciences, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Management Sciences and Vocational Education. OUR UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
Busitema University Library emerged from the amalgamation of the collections from the two founding Colleges in September 2007 - the National College of Agricultural Mechanisations, currently the Engineering Library at Busitema; and the National Teacher's College, which is the Science and Education Library at Nagongera. Prior to the opening of the Busitema University on 3rd October, 2007, there were two Faculties then - the Faculty of Engineering at Busitema Campus and the Faculty of Science and Education at Nagongera Campus. Today, there are six (6) Faculties, and thus six (6) Campus Libraries.

IGANGA HIGH SCHOOL

 INTRODUCTION

Present day Iganga High School was started way back in 1967 as Vithalidas Haridas Primary School by Asians living in Uganda at the time. It later became a secondary school in the name of Vithalidas Haridas Secondary School. With the expulsion of Asians in 1972, the school was allocated to Mr H.E Kibuuka and Mr. S. Mulumba. It later was handed over to government in 1976 and it was then that it dropped the primary school status and the Indian name to become IGANGA HIGH SCHOOL. It was elevated to an ‘A’ level school status in 1986.Being a government school, the government of Uganda paid the teachers’ salaries and financed development expenditure until 2007 when government policy changed. It now pays only the teachers’ salaries. The running costs and infrastructural development rests on parents.

Iganga High School

Teaching And Learning Programmes

Iganga High School has a well structured teaching and learning programme, constantly under review. The Deputy Headteachers charged with the office of Academics; Mr Nkwanga Chris, Mr Baganzi Paul and Mr  Nabongo Simon Peter, coordinate the Academic programmes and activities with the two Directors of Studies; Mr.Tigawalana Eriot and Mr Mulungwa Fred, together with the Heads of Department, and Subject Teachers monitor and carry out the teaching activities in the school. The class teachers and subject teachers account for the students’ academic performance at every level of the stream. We normally demand for this accountability during organized academic assemblies.

School Library

The teaching-learning process can only be enjoyable and effective if a school has a well stocked library with reading material for both students and teachers. Our struggle in this regard is aimed at establishing a well stocked modern library.
